IPL 2025 Resumption Details Announced: Six Venues, Finals Set for June 3

The IPL 2025 will continue from 17 May, concluding with the final on 3 June, under a new schedule released by the BCCI. Suspension on 9 May due to India-Pakistan tensions was lifted, and matches will now be played in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. The venues for the playoffs will be announced shortly, with play scheduled for 29 May (Qualifier 1), 30 May (Eliminator), 1 June (Qualifier 2), and 3 June for the final.

In total, 17 matches will resume, including two double-headers on Sundays. The PBKS vs DC match, interrupted in Dharamsala on 8 May, is rescheduled for 24 May in Jaipur, now PBKS’s temporary home. Three days later, PBKS will face MI, a match initially set for Dharamsala on 11 May. Kicking off the resumed season, RCB meets KKR on 17 May in Bengaluru.

Highlights of the double-header days include Rajasthan Royals facing PBKS on 18 May at 3.30pm (IST) and DC vs GT in the evening. The subsequent Sunday, 25 May, sees GT vs CSK in Ahmedabad’s daytime slot and SRH facing KKR in Delhi at 7.30pm (IST). The last league fixture is LSG against RCB on 27 May in Lucknow.

This shift sees PBKS, CSK, and SRH missing out on home ground play. With CSK and SRH out of playoff contention, PBKS remains hopeful despite having to play two home matches at neutral locations, being third with 15 points from 11 games before the pause.

BCCI stated the decision involved “extensive consultations with government, security agencies, and all key stakeholders.” The IPL’s delayed end coincides with the ODI series between England and West Indies, running from 29 May to 3 June in the UK. This will create availability issues for several players involved in both the IPL and their national squads.

The condensed season leaves a slim week-long gap between the IPL finale and the World Test Championship final, involving teams from Australia and South Africa, adding further scheduling complexity.
