Marsh Climbs to Fourth in IPL 2025 Orange Cap Race After First Century

In a match full of runs at Ahmedabad, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a significant win over league leaders Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday night, prompting shifts in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap standings. Over 400 runs were amassed in this high-scoring affair.

On the Orange Cap table, the focus remains heavily on GT’s reliable opening duo. B Sai Sudharsan leads with 638 runs across 13 innings, closely tailed by his teammate Shubman Gill, who is just two runs shy of the top spot.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh’s impressive innings—a pivotal maiden IPL hundred—pushed him up the rankings. His 117 from 64 balls was instrumental in LSG’s imposing total of 235 for 2, leading to their 33-run victory. With this performance, Marsh’s season tally stands at 560 runs from 12 matches, moving him to fourth place behind Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav.

Nicholas Pooran, another key performer for LSG, advanced to the seventh spot on the list after an unbeaten 56 from 27 balls. Earlier in the tournament, he dominated the leaders’ board, but his recent form had seen him slip down to 511 runs.

In the Purple Cap race for leading wicket-takers, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) spinner Noor Ahmad has regained the top position. GT’s Prasidh Krishna, who didn’t claim any wickets in this match, fell to second with both players holding 21 wickets. Krishna’s average and economy stand at 19.66 and 8.09 respectively, slightly edged out by Noor’s 18.42 average with an economy of 8.41.

GT’s R Sai Kishore improved his standing to sixth with figures of 1 for 34, bringing his total to 16 wickets from 13 matches. Mumbai Indians’ left-arm pacer Trent Boult remains in third place with a total of 19 scalps.

The IPL 2025 continues to showcase thrilling performances, with tables tracking key metrics such as highest batting strike rates, best bowling economy rates, and more, reflecting the diverse talents shining throughout the season.
