Mustafizur to Join Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025 League Games

Mustafizur Rahman has received the go-ahead from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to join Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a short stint, from 18 to 24 May 2025. This clearance allows him to participate in DC’s last three league-phase matches in IPL 2025; however, he will not be available for the playoffs, if DC progresses.

The BCB made it clear that before heading to India, Mustafizur will take part in Bangladesh’s first T20I against the UAE in Sharjah on Saturday. His availability for DC’s game on the evening of 18 May remains uncertain due to his travel schedule.

Earlier, there was a misunderstanding when the IPL and DC announced Mustafizur’s joining, as the BCB had not yet approved his no-objection certificate. The situation was clarified on Friday with the BCB’s nod.

Mitchell Starc will not join IPL’s remainder this year, paving the way for Mustafizur’s short involvement. Starc, who was DC’s top wicket-taker with 14 wickets from 11 matches at an average of 26.14, made his decision a week post a match in Dharamsala that was washed out. This choice affords Starc uninterrupted preparation for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, steering clear of T20 engagements prior to the Test showdown.

Additionally, Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs marked their IPL return, with Stubbs available only for the remaining league games before he also departs for the WTC final.

As Mustafizur integrates into the IPL itinerary, his contributions during this brief period will be watched closely.
