Mustafizur’s IPL Participation Uncertain Amid NOC Confusion

Delhi Capitals’ recent acquisition of Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season is facing hurdles, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) claims it has not been approached for a no-objection certificate (NOC).

Typically, the IPL formally announces player signings only after obtaining an NOC from the player’s home board. However, BCB’s CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury stated, “Mustafizur is supposed to go with the team to the UAE according to the schedule. We have not received any communication from IPL officials. I have also not received any such official communication from Mustafizur either.”

Currently, Mustafizur is part of Bangladesh’s T20 International squad scheduled to face the UAE and Pakistan, creating a fixture clash with IPL commitments. These series pose a scheduling conundrum as they overlap with the IPL. Bangladesh will play two T20Is in the UAE on May 17 and 19, followed by a series in Pakistan on May 25, 27, and 30, as well as June 1 and 3. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are set to play their final league matches on May 18, 21, and 24, leading into potential playoffs.

The situation raises questions regarding Mustafizur’s availability for Delhi Capitals, who need clarity as they approach the business end of their campaign. ESPNcricinfo has reached out to Delhi Capitals for comment on this matter.

As of now, Mustafizur has travelled to Dubai with the Bangladesh squad for their upcoming series. It’s a situation that bears watching, as the balance between national duties and IPL aspirations comes under scrutiny.

Stay tuned for further updates as the scenario evolves.
