The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to welcome their overseas players Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, and Kyle Jamieson, who will join the team in India on Tuesday. This addition comes just in time for PBKS’s next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, 24th May.
This opportunity marks the first time PBKS have secured a playoff spot since 2014, with hopes of clinching a top-two finish. The team has seen considerable success this season, attributed largely to their top order and bowlers. However, Stoinis and Inglis have had limited participation, with ongoing rotation of overseas players to stabilise the middle order. Stoinis has accumulated 82 runs across seven innings, maintaining a strike rate of 167.34, while Inglis follows with 92 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 139.39.
Aaron Hardie, an all-rounder from Western Australia, was acquired for INR 1.25 crore at the auction, yet has not taken to the field this season. Similarly, Kyle Jamieson, brought in as a replacement for injured Lockie Ferguson, awaits his debut in this season’s campaign. These players are potential crucial contributors, particularly after Marco Jansen departs for the World Test Championship final post-league stage.
PBKS’s squad also includes overseas talents Azmatullah Omarzai, Xavier Bartlett, and Mitch Owen. Following their match against Delhi Capitals, PBKS is scheduled to face Mumbai Indians on Monday, 26th May, in their final league stage encounter.
By ensuring player availability in the upcoming matches, PBKS aims not only for improved squad depth but also for greater tactical flexibility in the playoffs.
