Reddy faces ICC anti-corruption charges over Abu Dhabi T10

USA all-rounder Akhilesh Reddy has been provisionally suspended after the ICC levelled three anti-corruption charges against him during the Abu Dhabi T10. The 25-year-old, who only won his first USA cap earlier this year, now has a fortnight to lodge a formal response.

According to Monday’s charge sheet, the investigation centres on Reddy’s two outings for Aspin Stallions in the current tournament. The ICC alleges breaches of:

• Article 2.1.1 – attempting, or agreeing, to influence improperly the result or progress of a match
• Article 2.1.4 – encouraging another participant to do likewise
• Article 2.4.7 – obstructing the inquiry by deleting potential evidence from a mobile phone

In its provisional notice, the ICC said: “The player has 14 days from receipt of the charge sheet to respond.”

No further details have been released publicly, and the governing body stressed the presumption of innocence while the process runs its course. An ICC official familiar with past cases noted privately that most investigations of this nature “tend to stretch well beyond the initial 14-day window”, especially when digital forensics are involved.

Reddy’s brief international résumé comprises four T20Is in the North America T20 Cup, where he impressed with both bat and ball. USA Cricket has not commented, but one team-mate, speaking on background, admitted the squad was “shocked” by the news yet keen to “let the facts emerge”.

For now, Reddy cannot train or play in ICC-sanctioned events. If the charges are upheld, sanctions range from a multi-year ban to a lifetime exclusion, depending on intent and cooperation.
