Gujarat Titans’ opening batsman, Sai Sudharsan, celebrated a remarkable season as the top run-scorer in the IPL 2025, yet he remains focused on refining aspects of his T20 game. As the holder of the Orange Cap, Sudharsan played a pivotal role in guiding his team to the playoffs. However, following their exit in the Eliminator, he acknowledged, “I have a lot of things to improve in my T20 game.”
Despite Sudharsan’s successful performance this season, he is looking ahead to forthcoming challenges, including the five-Test series in England. While he dreams of representing India in the T20 World Cup next year, Sudharsan is prioritizing personal growth. “Playing for the country is obviously a dream for everybody,” he said. “But I’m not thinking on those lines because if you see about the season, I have a lot of things to improve as a T20 batter.”
Reflecting on the season, Sudharsan expressed mixed emotions. “It’s good to see that I had a good season, or I was consistent enough for my team,” he noted. Yet, the team’s early elimination leaves a sense of “disappointment in the [team] environment” due to their strong start. “Finishing a tournament like this doesn’t give that complete satisfaction,” he remarked, emphasising the need to appreciate performances and learn from them.
In the clash against Mumbai Indians, Sudharsan’s standout 80 off 49 balls provided hope in their daunting chase of 229 runs. His dismissal in the 16th over, however, led to GT’s faltering effort. With Shubman Gill departing early and Jos Buttler absent due to national commitments, the onus was on Sudharsan, who was conscious of this pressure. “A batter like Shubi, when he gets out, it creates a little difficulty,” Sudharsan admitted. Nevertheless, he was positive about teammate Kusal Mendis’ potential, stating, “I was confident enough that we could get those runs.”
As the season concludes, Sudharsan’s determination to improve and his unwillingness to settle for mere personal accolades are exemplified by his commitment to both his team and personal development. His journey demonstrates a promising blend of talent and introspection, which will likely serve him and his team well in future endeavours.
