Sudharsan and Gill Lead IPL 2025 Orange Cap Race; Krishna Tops Purple Cap List

Gujarat Titans (GT) players B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have secured the top two spots in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap standings. In a thrilling double-header on Sunday, GT overtook Delhi Capitals (DC) with an impressive performance, chasing down 199 runs with an over to spare. Sudharsan’s unbeaten 108 off 61 balls helped propel him to the top of the run-scorer’s list with 617 runs from 12 matches. Meanwhile, GT’s captain Shubman Gill, who finished on 93 not out off 53 deliveries, holds the second spot with 601 runs in 12 innings.

Prior to GT’s standout performance, Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Yashasvi Jaiswal briefly held the top spot after his quick 50 off 25 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Although that innings didn’t lead to victory, he now sits in third with 523 runs from 13 matches.

KL Rahul also made significant gains, moving up to seventh place after his century against DC, bringing his total to 493. In between the top three and Rahul are Suryakumar Yadav (510), Virat Kohli (505), and Jos Buttler (500).

In the Purple Cap table, GT’s Prasidh Krishna leads with 21 wickets from 12 innings, edging ahead of Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Noor Ahmad, who stands at 20 wickets. Josh Hazlewood of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Trent Boult of Mumbai Indians (MI) follow closely, both having claimed 18 wickets.

Tom Moody and Piyush Chawla commended GT’s opening pair for their versatility. “Gill, Sai Sudharsan now have five gears,” Moody noted, highlighting the duo’s adaptability.
