Suryakumar and Boult Secure Second and Third in IPL 2025 Performance Rankings

Suryakumar Yadav concluded the IPL 2025 season with a commendable 717 runs, making him the second batter to surpass the 700-run milestone after Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan.

As the IPL 2025 culminates in a much-anticipated final between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), we take a closer look at the standings on the Orange and Purple Cap tables following PBKS’s victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2.

Orange Cap Table

Sai Sudharsan has been the dominant force on the Orange Cap leaderboard, amassing 759 runs. The Gujarat Titans opener has put significant distance between himself and the competition, with Virat Kohli of RCB trailing at fifth with 614 runs. Kohli, an enduring icon of the game, will have to produce something extraordinary to close that 145-run gap.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer of PBKS has made admirable strides, sitting just behind Kohli with 603 runs. His remarkable unbeaten 87 off 41 balls against MI has propelled him into the top six run-scorers of the season. Suryakumar Yadav, maintaining his consistent form, finished with 717 runs for MI but couldn’t push his team into the finals. “It’s been quite a season,” acknowledged Suryakumar, who also tops the MVP standings on ESPNcricinfo.

As the competition draws to a close, attention also turns to the top six-hitters, with Iyer in with a chance to lead this category by season’s end.

Purple Cap Table

In the race for the Purple Cap, RCB’s Josh Hazlewood remains the main contender to displace Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans. Hazlewood stands with 21 wickets, trailing Prasidh’s tally of 25. However, capturing five wickets in a single game is no small feat.

Trent Boult of MI has also been noteworthy, claiming third place with 22 wickets, following his crucial dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh. Boult ranks just behind Prasidh and Noor Ahmad of Chennai Super Kings, who has taken 24 wickets. Amongst those still competing, Arshdeep Singh from PBKS remains in contention with 18 wickets.

These statistics build a picture of the IPL 2025’s standout players, celebrating their formidable contributions across various facets of the game.
