Texas Super Kings Secure Convincing Victory Over Los Angeles Knight Riders

Texas Super Kings 181/4 (Mitchell 36, Conway 34, Ferreira 32, Mukkamalla 31, Sangha 2-32) beat Los Angeles Knight Riders 124 (van Schalkwyk 27, Noor 4-25, Milne 2-8, Wiig 2-25) by 57 runs.

In a balanced team effort, Texas Super Kings claimed their second consecutive win in MLC 2025, defeating Los Angeles Knight Riders by 57 runs. This victory came courtesy of another solid performance from their bowlers, led by Adam Milne and Noor Ahmad.

Opting to bat first, Texas Super Kings set a challenging total of 181 for 4. Devon Conway and Saiteja Mukkamalla laid a strong foundation with a 57-run stand in just over five overs. Although captain Faf du Plessis failed to make a significant impact once again, the team’s batting succeeded as a collective effort. Daryl Mitchell and Donovan Ferreira provided late acceleration, with Ferreira closing with an impressive strike rate of 200.

The Knight Riders struggled in their response. Andre Fletcher fell early to Milne, sparking a series of steady partnerships, yet none managed to threaten the target. Alex Hales and Unmukt Chand added 27 runs, followed by Chand’s 28-run stand with Matthew Tromp, who managed a brisk 23 off 12 balls.

Milne concluded the innings with figures of 3.1 overs, 8 runs, and 2 wickets, including the final wicket of Tanveer Sangha. Noor Ahmad was the standout, demolishing the middle and lower order, securing four wickets for 25 runs.

Reflecting on the match, Milne remarked, “It was about building pressure and executing our plans. With Noor on fire, we knew we could capitalise on any mistake.”

The Los Angeles Knight Riders were left to ponder their batting approach, as only two players in the match—Ferreira and Tromp—sustained a strike rate exceeding 155. Tromp’s spirited effort was one of the few bright spots in their innings.

Ultimately, the Texas Super Kings’ all-round performance proved too much for the Knight Riders, underscoring a cohesive team dynamic that appears promising for the league’s early stages.
