The Southern Rocks, a Zimbabwean cricket team, have quite an intriguing albeit erratic history in the domestic cricket scene. Established in 2009 as part of Zimbabwe Cricket's restructuring of the domestic competition, the team initially struggled to make its mark, representing the Masvingo and Matabeleland South region. If you’re acquainted with Zimbabwe's cricketing landscape, it's apparent that stable performances on the field have been sporadic at best, but Southern Rocks have experienced moments of brilliance intertwined with their otherwise challenging journey.
One of the team's major achievements came when the Rocks clinched their first piece of silverware in 2013, winning the Logan Cup, Zimbabwe's premier first-class cricket competition. Sadly though, due to financial constraints, the team was temporarily disbanded in 2014 but was resurrected again in 2020, much to the delight of its ardent supporters.

Among them, Sikandar Raza stands out, whose all-round capabilities and fiery determination have often carried the team during lean patches. Also noteworthy is Tendai Chisoro, whose bowling has been a crucial asset, particularly in tighter contests. These players, embodying resilience, have been pivotal in many rearguard actions and an occasional upset against more illustrious opposition.
When it comes to rivalries, Rocks' clashes with Mountaineers have often been gripping, if not downright unpredictable. Matches between these two sides have an added edge, no doubt fuelled by the competitive spirit within the small pool of professional teams in Zimbabwe's domestic cricket.
