Tasmania Cricket Association Ground

Nestled within the scenic surroundings of Queens Domain, Hobart, the Tasmania Cricket Association Ground – often affectionately known as Bellerive Oval – is a sporting venue steeped in history and charm. First established in 1914, it began humbly and has grown significantly over the years to become a key player in Australian cricket. Initially, it wasn't even the primary cricket ground in Hobart; that accolade originally went to the North Hobart Oval. It wasn't until the 1980s that Bellerive really came into its own, undergoing major renovations which included the construction of a new pavilion.

Today, the ground boasts a decent seating capacity of approximately 20,000, having undergone several enhancements to cater to the growing number of cricket enthusiasts. The upgrades have beautifully balanced modern requirements with the ground's historical essence, making it a welcoming spot for fans. It's the proud home of the Tasmanian Tigers in domestic cricket, and the Hobart Hurricanes during the electrifying Big Bash League.

The ground has a rich history of hosting both domestic and international fixtures. The 1992 and 2015 ICC Cricket World Cups saw Bellerive play host to several matches, each contributing its own chapter to the venue’s storied legacy. Over the years, it's been a stage for unforgettable performances such as Ricky Ponting’s masterclass innings in front of his home crowd and tense Ashes test matches.

The pitch at Bellerive is known for being a bit of a leveller, providing something for both batters and bowlers, depending on the day. Its grassy surface sometimes offers assistance to seamers, making conditions interesting and varied throughout matches.
